Getting started
What is Wave Digital?
Wave Digital is an app that holds cryptocurrency and lets you spend it with a payment card, without converting to fiat first. Multi-currency accounts in USD and EUR are on the way — join the waitlist to hear when they open in your country.
Wave Digital is not a bank and does not provide banking services. Payment and settlement services are provided by licensed third-party payment providers.
How do I create an account?
Download the app for iOS or Android, sign up, and complete identity verification — usually under five minutes. Verification is required by law and handled by our screening provider.
You must be between 18 and 70 years old, and service availability depends on your country of residence.
Is Wave Digital free to use?
Downloading the app and opening a wallet costs nothing. Cards carry a one-time issuance fee: $10 for a virtual card and $100 for a physical card — see card fees.
Network fees, exchange spreads and third-party charges depend on the transaction and are shown to you before you confirm it.
Crypto
Which cryptocurrencies can I hold?
Wave Digital integrates with more than 30 blockchains, covering the major cryptocurrencies. Assets are held with BitGo rather than on the platform itself.
How do I buy crypto? (on-ramp)
Buy supported cryptocurrencies inside the app using Visa, Mastercard and local payment methods. This is the on-ramp: ordinary money in, crypto out.
How do I convert crypto back to money? (off-ramp)
Sell crypto for fiat at any time and send the proceeds to your own bank account, a third-party account, or someone else"s Mastercard. You are never locked into a token.
We do not guarantee how long a payment takes. Processing depends on compliance checks, banking networks and third-party procedures, all outside our control.
Are crypto transactions reversible?
No. If you send cryptocurrency to an incorrect address, or send the wrong amount, it cannot be recovered — including by us. Check the address before every transfer, and read the Risk Warning.
Cards
Can I spend my crypto with a Wave Digital card?
Yes. The card is accepted in more than 170 countries and spends against your balance without you converting to fiat first.
How do I get a card?
Open the app and complete identity verification — usually under five minutes. A virtual card is issued in the app straight away; a physical card is posted to you and typically arrives in 5–7 days.
What is the difference between the virtual and physical cards?
| Feature | Virtual card | Physical card |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery | Instant (digital) | 5–7 days (posted) |
| Spending limit | Standard | Higher threshold |
| Best for | Online purchases | Travel and larger purchases |
| One-time fee | $10 | $100 |
Where can I use the card?
Online, in shops, at ATMs and for subscriptions — anywhere Mastercard is accepted, across 170+ countries. ATM withdrawals are capped at the equivalent of $10,000 per day.
What is Wave World Club?
The most exclusive tier in the Wave Digital ecosystem: a black metal Visa card with a per-transaction cap of $100,000 and no daily spending limit. It is not available for public purchase and is granted by invitation or approval only. See the World Club section.
Accounts
Can I open a USD or EUR account?
Not yet. Multi-currency accounts with SEPA and SWIFT rails are being rolled out, operated by our regulated payment partner. Join the waitlist and we will contact you when they open in your country.
Will Wave Digital pay interest on my balance?
No. Wave Digital and its payment providers are not banks or credit institutions, no interest is paid on funds held through the Services, and those funds are not bank deposits covered by any deposit guarantee scheme.
Security
How are my assets protected?
Digital assets are held with BitGo, an institutional custody provider, rather than on our own balance sheet. Every account goes through identity verification and sanctions screening before it can transact.
You are responsible for your own login, password and device security — see clause 8 of the Terms of Use.
What if I lose my phone or suspect fraud?
Contact us immediately at [email protected] so we can act on your account. Support is staffed Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 5:00pm, and closed on weekends and public holidays — so for anything urgent, email as soon as you notice it.
You are responsible for all activity under your account, including access you did not authorise, so protect your credentials carefully.
Can I have more than one account?
No. Creating more than one account is prohibited and may lead to us refusing service.
Your account
Why was my payment declined?
Common reasons: insufficient balance, a limit reached on your card, incorrect details, or a compliance check. We may also refuse, suspend or delay a transaction where anti-money-laundering, sanctions or other regulatory obligations require it.
How do I update my account details?
Change what you can inside the app. For anything the app will not let you edit, email [email protected] from the address registered on the account.
How do I delete my account?
Fill in the form on our account removal page. An administrator confirms your request within 48 hours and then deletes your data. Withdraw any remaining balance first — closing an account does not move money for you.
Some records are kept after closure to satisfy anti-money-laundering, accounting and tax obligations — see data retention.
How do I make a complaint?
Email [email protected]. We acknowledge every complaint by email, then investigate. Most answers come within a couple of business days, and no later than 15 business days, as set out in clause 28 of the Terms of Use.
Still need help?
Email [email protected] or use the in-app chat. Complaints are answered within a couple of business days, and no later than 15.
